Peter Mansbridge and Rick Mercer

So this year, we found ourselves looking for a guest interviewer.

Who was out there who would be comfortable behind a microphone, asking questions of one of our authors? And was there any chance that the interviewer could also be an interviewee, someone with their own interesting story to tell? But who might interview them? As those of you who have been with us in the past know, we love a surprise, we love to have fun, and we love trying something new…..

Peter Mansbridge was the long-time anchor of The National and chief correspondent for CBC News. For 30 years, he was there guiding Canadians through every major news event. He is also an author, podcaster and very busy public speaker.

Rick Mercer is….well, you know who Rick Mercer is. And if you’re lucky, you’ve been with us on some of those days and nights when he brought down the house at the Heritage Theatre.

Here’s what’s going to happen in August:

  • On Wednesday afternoon, Rick will interview Peter on stage about his life, his career and his latest book, How Canada Works.

  • On Thursday afternoon, Peter with interview an author on stage – we’ll reveal that name in a future update.

  • On Friday afternoon, Tom Power will interview Rick about his life, his career and his latest book The Road Years: A Memoir Continued.

  • And then on Saturday night, Rick will do a reading, though in no way does that descriptor do justice to what’s going to happen.

We hope to see you there.
