Ian Williams
We are so happy to welcome Ian Williams to Writers at Woody Point for the first time.
Ian’s is a critically celebrated poet, essayist and writer of fiction.
His first novel, Reproduction, a forty-year multigenerational story of how families are formed, destroyed and reformed, won the Giller Prize in 2019. Ian is also the author of three poetry collections, a short story collection, and the essay collection Disorientation: Being Black in the World, which was shortlisted for the Hillary Weston Writers Trust Prize for non-fiction and was a Boston Globe best book of the year.
In 2024, he was chosen to deliver the CBC Massey Lectures. Those five radio broadcasts became the companion book, What I Mean To Say: Remaking Conversations in Our Time, published by House of Anansi.
Ian’s most recent work is the novel You’ve Changed, published last year and longlisted for the 2025 Giller Prize.
He will be reading on Friday night at the Heritage Theatre and will join Angela Antle for a Coffee With…. conversation on Saturday morning.
