As we prepare for another busy ticket launch, we want to share a few details about how Ticketpro's Virtual Waiting Room works to ensure a smooth, fair, and positive experience for everyone.
Comedy at Woody Point
Our pal Steve Patterson sent along this note to let you know all about this year's Comedy at Woody Point 2026!
Mary Walsh
We are very excited to announce a very special addition to this year’s program.
Mary Walsh will be joining us to talk about her new “memoir in pieces”, Brassy Bit of Aging Crumpet during an on-stage chat with Elamin Abdelmahomoud on the afternoon of Wednesday August 19th.
A Message from Shelagh Rogers
Each year, our festival brings a mix of familiar faces and exciting new ones to Woody Point and this year is no different — though we will be holding a little extra space in our hearts for one dear friend.
Adrian Sutherland
We are so happy to announce that Adrian Sutherland will be joining us this year, all the way from Attawapiskat First Nation on the shores of James Bay.
Adrian is a Juno-nominated singer-songwriter whose most recent album, Precious Diamonds, was produced by friend-of-the-festival Colin Linden.
He is also an author.
Angela Antle Wins the BMO Winterset Award
Our host and now a celebrated author, Angela Antle, has won the 2025 BMO Winterset Award for her debut novel, The Saltbox Olive — and we couldn’t be more proud.
Ian Williams
We are so happy to welcome Ian Williams to Writers at Woody Point for the first time.
Ian’s is a critically celebrated poet, essayist and writer of fiction.
His first novel, Reproduction, a forty-year multigenerational story of how families are formed, destroyed and reformed, won the Giller Prize in 2019.
David Ferry - Short Waves/Short Stories
Talk about time flying.
This year we will present the 15th edition of Short Waves/Short Stories, the wildly innovative live theatre experience created by our friend, the Newfoundland-born actor, director and writer David Ferry.
On Sunday we will gather once again at the Legion for an early afternoon libation and some collective listening, as David and his troup of actors and musicians perform one of his original stories, Bannerman Park.
Mark Critch
Mark Critch is one busy guy. But this August, he has blocked out a few days in his crazy schedule to make a return visit to Writers at Woody Point.
We can’t wait.
The East Pointers
If you leave a performance by The East Pointers without a great big smile on your face, there’s really nothing more we can do for you.
Richard Ford returns to Woody Point
We are so pleased to announce the return to Woody Point of one of the most important writers of our era, Richard Ford.
Miriam Toews & Christine Fellows
We have always loved the idea of mixing and matching writers and musicians and then sitting back to enjoy the result. Wonderful and unexpected synergies always emerge when creative people share the Heritage Theatre stage.
This year, in a special Sunday evening performance, we have taken that to another level, turning the show over one of our favourite authors and one of our favourite musicians.
A Message from Our Artistic Director, Stephen Brunt
We’re getting ready to announce the line-up for our 2026 Writers at Woody Point festival!
