The Sweet William Society, Duane Andrews and The Hot Club of Conception Bay, Rasa, Des Walsh, and Hit Piece
The Sweet William Society is a collaboration between Andrea Koziol and Bill Brennan, a stunning and original vocalist accompanied by one of Newfoundland’s finest musicians. Hearing them in the intimate and acoustically-magnificent confines of the Heritage Theatre is going to be a real treat.
If you were with us last year, you got a taste of Duane Andrews and The Hot Club of Conception Bay, equally adept playing virtuoso traditional music and swing jazz in the style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli. Duane, Erin and Isaac will be opening for The East Pointers at Shoal Brook United Church on Friday night and you’ll also hear them at our Traditional (and not so traditional) Session.
Erin Best and our Musician In Residence Sandy Morris, as Rasa, have made our Saturday matinee their own. This year they’ll share the stage with Miriam Toews, in conversation with Elamin Abdelmahmoud.
We like to call Des Walsh the Bard of Woody Point. He has been with us for all of our twenty-three years, sometimes reading his poetry, always playing the fiddle and singing and serving as the spiritual centre of what we do. You can catch him at the Session and at what we like to call the Des Walsh Experience at the Merchant Warehouse on Saturday afternoon, where all manner of things can happen.
And then on Saturday night at the Legion, Jodee Richardson is back with Hit Piece, the sensational all-star party band who will once again blow the roof off the place. There will be dancing……
