About us

Friends of Writers at Woody Point presents diverse cultural offerings that celebrate  Newfoundland's rich culture in writing, music, comedy, and visual arts. By bringing together established and emerging artists from Newfoundland, across Canada, and abroad, the organization offers opportunities for presentation, development, collaboration, and access to cultural offerings on the island’s west coast. In 2023 we expect an exciting and busy season at the Woody Point Heritage Theatre. We are looking forward to a self-motivated and enthusiastic arts administration assistant joining us for the summer season.

Start date: July 1st, 2024

End date: August 30th, 2024 (11 weeks) Compensation: $17/hr; 35/hrs/wk

Position Description:

The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Director of the organization to provide administrative, logistical, and community outreach support in the presentation of summer programming for the Writers at Woody Point Literary Festival. The successful candidate should demonstrate experience and skills in client/customer service, communication,  digital proficiency, and working in a team-based environment. Experience in producing and coordinating content for social media is considered an asset.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Administrative support

• Assisting with logistical planning and execution

• Assisting with marketing, social media & content creation

• Supporting the production team prior to and during scheduled events

This is a Canada Summer Jobs position. The successful candidate must be between 15 and 30  years of age at the start of employment but does not have to be a student. The successful candidate must fulfill Canadian citizenship/residency/refugee requirements and have a valid social insurance number.  For practical reasons, the successful candidate must live during the summer season in close proximity to Woody Point & be able to commute to the Heritage Theatre.
