Writers at Woody Point - Opening Concerts

From day one, Writers at Woody Point has woven a unique blend of words and music - and we always like to start and end our festival with a song.

In August, we will kick things off with two concerts featuring one of the most popular artists to have ever appeared on the Heritage Theatre stage, Sarah Harmer.

Sarah was last with us back in 2010, a year that included one memorable night when the power went out (a not infrequent occurrence in Woody Point.) and she played most of her set acoustically, in the dark, lit only by the moonlight streaming through the windows. Needless to say, it was magical.

We welcome Sarah back to reconnect with her many friends and fans in Bonne Bay, and to perform in a space that so perfectly showcases her stunning talents.

Opening for Sarah is R Sheaves, an exciting new alternative folk/rock project conceived by the Newfoundland-based virtuoso Robert Humber.

Robert wrote, sang and played all of the instruments on R. Sheaves’ debut album, Mary Spins. In Woody Point, he will be joined on stage by a group of extraordinary musicians.

Thank you to our opening concert sponsor Dean MacDonald and Clan Mac Foundation.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, May 9 at 1PM Newfoundland time via Ticketpro!
